Consignment of Gold Coins

“Consignment of M’Kinley Coins,” Niles Daily News, August 23, 1916. Retrieved 3/31/2015 from
C.P. Wilson President of the Niles Trust Company announced the arrival of $3 gold coins, which were on display in bank windows. The selling price was $3 each or $2.50/10. The bank was appointed to hold the coins in trust for the National McKinley Birthplace Association. Two thousand coins were shipped to other banks. One thousand were sent to Youngstown, with more due to arrive here. Some felt the National McKinley Birthplace MemorialAssociation offered the coins at too low a price since $3 was the standard price for a gold coin.
